Battery Storage

 Save money: Store your solar

While you are paid for energy sent back to the grid, electricity companies give you a lower rate than they charge you. This means it makes sense to store your own free electricity rather than buy it at a higher rate later. Installing a battery storage system means that instead of selling the electricity you generated back to the grid,  to use when you need it – to power your home when the sun goes down.

We can install batteries to store your electricity for use when the sun isn’t shining. Any excess generated when you aren’t at home can be stored for use later. You can sell your excess solar energy to your electricity supplier – which will of course reduce your overall bill, but perhaps you would prefer to retain all the energy you generate. This means a greater proportion of your consumption will be green electricity, a low-carbon option to fossil fuels.

From 1st of February 2024 the government has announced 0% VAT on Battery only installations or installations where you add a battery to an existing Solar PV System. Get in touch to benefit from these savings now!

Whether you have existing solar or want a standalone battery storage system to leverage cheap overnight tariffs such as Octopus Go or Agile. We are Tesla Powerwall Approved Installers and also install the MyEnergi Libbi, Givenergy and SolarEdge systems, but please get in touch if you have a specific preference that is not on the list.

Back up power: Keep the lights on

Our systems can protect your home in a power cut, detecting outages and automatically become your home’s energy source when the grid goes down.  Even better is the fact that your batteries can be recharged by your solar: keeping your lights on and powering essential items to prolong your resilience in the event of an extended outage.

How big a battery do I need?

The optimal size of a battery storage system is determined by measuring both your electricity consumption and generation, this splits self consumption from export. The key is to shift your export to self consumption, minimising the amount of energy purchased from the grid, lowering your bills and increasing the amount of green power you’re using.

We can analyse your consumption from your electricity bills to propose an ideal battery storage system for you.

We also supply and install solar energy diverters such as the MyEnergi Eddi device to harness solar to heat your hot water via an immersion heater or to control your heat pump.

How much do batteries cost?

Our batteries generally cost between £3,500 to £10,000. However, this can vary due to factors such as the solar battery manufacturer, the type of  battery or its capacity.

Our 5kW solar battery systems normally cost between £4,000 to £5,000. A 10 kW solar battery storage system typically ranges in cost from £7,000 to £8,000. The price difference for such a system is influenced by factors such as installation cost battery’s size and whether it is DC (direct current) or AC (alternating current) coupled.

Installation is cheaper when installed at the same time as solar but to combine a solar battery with your existing solar panel system, you can expect labour costs ranging between £500 to £1,000 per day. Additionally, maintenance expenses typically fall between £100 and £200 for annual upkeep.
