Air Source Heat Pumps

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) are an ideal replacement for gas boilers to heat your home, provide hot water while lowering your bills and carbon emissions.

They work in the same way as a fridge in reverse, using electricity to drive a pump that creates heat instead of cooling. This converts low grade heat from the air outside and concentrates it to heat your home.

For every kilowatt of electricity the heat pump uses, it creates about 3-4 kilowatts of renewable heat from the air. Over the course of a year, it’s up to 400% efficient (even the most efficient gas boiler is below 100% efficient).

Best of all, your running costs could be lower, particularly if your home is heated by oil, LPG or electricity. So when you choose an ASHP you can enjoy green energy in your home, while saving on your bills too. In fact when heat pumps are combined with solar panels they can even heat your home for free over the year!

Our ASHPs

We use Air Source Heat Pumps from a range of manufacturers; NIBE (Sweden), Daikin, Samsung and LG (Korea). This ensures that as we are not tied to one manufacturer, we always fit the correct heat pump for your home.

ASHP Costs

Air Source Heat Pumps are suitable for most houses. At present there is a government grant of £7500 available from the Boiler Upgrade scheme.

The costs of a typical installation start at around £3000 after this grant is taken into account. The price varies for larger properties and on how much work is required inside your home.

As heat pumps work at a lower temperature than gas boilers, they sometimes need bigger radiators to emit the same heat. Costs can also increase if existing pipework needs to be changed.
